Detroit Lakes junior Madi Gerdes had the top final ranking for the Lakers in the 2020 compiled Class A section swimming results. In lieu of a state meet, final rankings were published by the Minnesota Swimming Coaches Association from all the section meet finals.

Gerdes finished the season ranked eighth in the 100-breaststroke (1:08.63). Her sister Lexi, also a junior, was ranked 18th (1:11.49).

The top eight swimmers qualify and compete in the championship finals at the usual state meet. Swimmers ranked ninth through 16th advance to the consolation state finals.

Senior Kaitlyn Peterson was 14th in the 200-freestyle (1:58.88) and 16th in the 500-freestyle with a time of 5:29.34. Peterson, the Section 8A swimmer of the year, was also part of two ranked relay teams.

Senior Evan Westrum (1:01.14) finished with a rank of 16th in the 100-butterfly.
