THIEF RIVER FALLS - The Laker swimmers bested three teams in a quadrangular at Thief River Falls Thursday night winning four of the eleven events:
“Well swum by the entire team,” Head Coach Carol McCarthy said.
Grace Livermore won the 200 Individual Medley; Syd Gulon won the 500 freestyle; Clara Livermore was first in the 100 Breaststroke and the 400 freestyle relay team of Livermore, Livermore, Gulon and Ella Henderson finished the final race of the meet in the top spot to give the Lakers a 13 point victory over Crookston.
DL trailed Crookston by one point going into the 400 relay.
Detroit Lakes scored 181 points to the Pirates 168. Host Thief River Falls placed third with 88 points. Warroad was fourth with 81.

Diving competition was not held and the meet was not run in the typical manner of fastest heat last.
It was circle-seeded so the swimmers did not necessarily get to race side by side. The victorious Lakers were obviously unphased by the change in format.
After four straight meets on the road, DL returns home to face Moorhead and Fergus Falls in a triangular at the DLCCC Thursday, Sept. 18 at 6 p.m.
