Detroit Lakes doubled up Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton 12-6 in the second overtime to defeat the Rebels 69-63 in non-conference girls basketball at Ralph Anderson Gymnasium Friday, Feb. 14.

Tied 57-57, DL scored 10 of a dozen points in the second extra session from the free throw line. Sarah Tangen had the lone field goal and the free throw that would become the game-sealing point.

A 7-3 run to start double overtime was enough to get in front of the Rebels for good.

The teams finished regulation in a deadlock of 51-all.

Maddy Bowers opened with a field goal but was answered by a three from DGF’s Ally Freier. A pair of Abby Larson free throws tied the score at 55-55.

Maria Watt answered with two freebies leading to a Sophie Gunderson field goal to send the game to double overtime.

Watt made the final field goal of regulation to force OT.

The Lakers trailed 49-45 late, but Alex Bettcher went on her own 5-0 run to regain the lead 50-49.

The Rebels led at the break 36-31. The Lakers held DGF to just 15 points in the second half.

Watt led all scorers with 30 points accruing nearly half of the Rebels’ total. DGF dropped to 7-16 overall.

Bettcher led the Lakers with 23 points. Tangen added 14; Bowers and Gunderson each scored 11 points. DL has won four straight games to improve to 12-11 and are back over the .500 mark for the first time since mid-December.
