The Detroit Lakes weightlifting team competed at the 5th annual Spud Thud Weightlifting Meet Saturday, March 20 in Moorhead.
“We brought great energy and excitement to the meet,” head coach Dylan Surface said. “Everyone lifted hard and supported their teammates. We went in with a solid plan, and we gave it everything we had. I’m so proud of what our athletes have been able to accomplish. We are continuing to grow in numbers, and have really started to develop an elite culture. I look forward to what we will accomplish this season.”
Shawn Carey qualified for youth nationals by totaling 115 kg.
Charlie Zok posted a 163kg total to qualify for both state and youth nationals.
