Lakes Curling Club began their 30th season of curling with a club Open House, which was held Saturday, at the Lakes Curling Club, located just behind Minnkota Recycling, on Hwy 59 north.
The interest in curling has continued to build since the sport was added to the Olympics.
In addition to the Club Open House, "open nights" of curling will also be held every Monday evening in December from 6-8 p.m. Anyone interested in curling is welcomed to attend.
Membership continues to grow each year, with over 200 plus curlers involved in league play every night of the week.
The current membership comes from Detroit Lakes, Frazee, Perham, Audubon, Lake Park, Hawley, Fargo, Pelican Rapids, Fergus Falls, and Mahnomen. Lakes Curling Club is open to both male and females, with a mixed-couples league on Monday evenings.

League play begins on Tuesday, Nov. 30, and ends in mid-March.
Fridays and weekends are reserved for the numerous Canadian bon spiels and other tournaments the club hosts each year.
According to club President, Chris Steen, Bonspiels are not the only activities that take place during the curling season.
"For several years, our club has worked closely with the school district, introducing the sport of curling to over 900 plus junior and senior high youth, every school year," Steen said.
