MOORHEAD – The Detroit Lakes Legion baseball team kept its season alive in a Sub-State 14 elimination game against Brainerd on Thursday.
Post 15 erased a one-run deficit with a five-run sixth inning. Trailing 5-4, Mason Omberg scored on a passed ball before Grady Kirchner gave Detroit Lakes the lead with an RBI single.
Jordan Tucker brought home another run with a base hit before Jacob Thomas plated two on a bunt play. Kirchner scored before Tucker came home on a throwing error.
Four runs were enough cushion for Bradly Swiers to close out the win. He threw all seven innings, allowing just two earned runs with four strikeouts.
Swiers started the scoring in the bottom of the first by scoring on a passed ball. He was on third base after a leadoff double and a sacrifice bunt from Kirchner.
