MOORHEAD – Post 15’s cinderella run through the elimination bracket in the Sub-State 14 baseball tournament came to an end on Saturday at the hands of the top seed in the field.
Moorhead beat Detroit Lakes 6-1 to clinch a spot in the championship game at Matson Field. After allowing a run in the first, Moorhead scored six unanswered to half Post 15’s title hopes.
Jordan Tucker scored the game’s first run on a double steal with two outs in the top of the first inning. Moorhead got the run back after a leadoff double led to a fielder’s choice in the bottom half of the frame.
Moorhead added another run in the second inning on a wild pitch before scoring on another fielder’s choice in the fourth. Three insurance runs on a sacrifice fly and a single in the sixth were enough to advance to the title game against Alexandria.
Joshua Goodspeed threw 5 and 2/3 innings on the mound in his start. He allowed two earned runs on four hits with three strikeouts.
