Senior Amy Crawford and junior Jess Stelter proved their leadership credentials once again for the No. 3 state-ranked Detroit Lakes gymnastics team, after the duo led the Lakers to a second-place finish in the Fargo North Invite Saturday.
The two claimed a total five first or second-place finishes combined, which was the bulk of DL's season-best 139.45 points, behind first-place Dickinson's 145.65.
"Amy and Jess just had a good meet, when their scores are high, our team score is high," said DL head coach Steve Zamzo. "Both are very intelligent gymnasts and they are experienced."
Crawford won the all-around points total with 37.675 points, after winning bars with a 9.7 and beam with a 9.4.
Stelter was tied for fifth all-around with 35.875 points, including a first on vault at 9.525.

The learning curve continues for the younger gymnasts, but progression is being had by the mostly junior high competitors.
"Our young gymnasts struggled a little, just because we've added some more skills to their routines," Zamzo said. "So their scores naturally will go down while they learn them."
The No. 3 ranked Lakers will host the No. 2 ranked Becker team Friday inside the Minnesota Flyers Gymnastics facility, starting at 6 p.m., in a showdown of two of the hottest squads in the state.
