Defending state champion Fly Girls sweep Dance sections

The defending Class A state champion Frazee Fly Girls jazz and high kick dance teams swept the Section 4A championships Saturday, Feb. 9 in Wadena setting up a return trip to continue their state dominance this weekend in Minneapolis.

Frazee’s jazz team scored four rank points to win handily over Duluth Marshall in second place with nine. The top three teams advance to state. The Aitkin All-Starz secured a return trip with 13 rank points. Frazee earned 473 out of a possible 700 points from the judges.

In high kick, Frazee edged Aitkin by one-half point scoring six to the All-Starz 6.5. Bagley claimed the final spot with a rank point score of 11. The judges awarded the Fly Girls a meet-high 476 points.

Under head coach Ta Fett, the Fly Girls look to add to three state titles in program history. Frazee captured its first in jazz in 2016.

The Class A State Meet will be held at Target Center in Minneapolis Feb. 15-16.
