Alpine skiing: Laker girls claim top three spots at Andes Tower Hills

Detroit lakes competed in first alpine dual meet

The Detroit Lakes Alpine skiing team competed in its first-ever dual meet, which saw three Lakers claim the top three girls spots at Andes Tower Hills in Alexandria.

Kennedy Weyer took first place with splits of 34.43 and 34.50. Marlo Schmitz (34.89, 37.22) and Olivia Smith (36.10, 36.72) took second and third to claim the top three podium spots for Detroit Lakes.

Kristina Heinlein (37.12, 41.37) and Mia Voth (55.06, 61.06) rounded out the group for the Laker girls. Heinlein took sixth place while Voth finished 12th.

Two Laker boys qualified for placing on Friday. Dylan Bekkerus took fourth place with splits of 35.37 and 35.88. Brayden Aldinger (43.95, 50.12) took 10th place in the boys race. Alexandria’s Ross Marty won the event with times of 28.58 and 29.33.
