CROSBY – An 11-run third inning lifted the Detroit lakes baseball team to a sweep over Crosby-Ironton in its first mid-state doubleheader of the season on Thursday night.
The Lakers beat the Rangers 19-2 in game two after taking game one 16-6. Both contests ended in five innings.
Cade Jackson drew a bases-loaded walk before Markus Lyman bunted a run home to make it 7-2. Bradly Sweirs singled in a pair of runs before a Noah Rieber double made it 10-2.
Following a Hunter Korth sacrifice fly, Mason Omberg tallied one of his four RBIs by getting hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.
The Lakers batted around in the third inning, leading to Lyman’s RBI double. Grady Kirchner scored from third on a passed ball to give Detroit Lakes a 16-2 lead heading into the fourth inning.

Jackson pitched all five innings for the Lakers and allowed one earned run. He struck out five batters and walked one in the mercy-rule victory.
Swiers, Omberg and Carson Rogstad recorded two-hit games for the Lakers. Omberg went 2-for-3 with four RBIs and three runs scored. Kyler Johnson was 1-for-2 with three walks.
The big third inning in game two followed an eight-run second inning in game one. After taking a 2-0 lead in the first inning, Hunter Korth scored on a passed ball to make it 3-0 before Jacob Thomas and Johnston walked with the bases loaded.
Omberg reached on an error, scoring Thomas and Jordan Tucker. Rogstad would single two batters later to give the Lakers a 10-0 lead. Rogstad notched an RBI double an inning later to put Detroit Lakes up 14-0.
Crosby-Ironton scored six runs, but it wasn’t enough to extend the game past five innings. Swiers, Rogstad and Brock Okeson combined for three earned runs on five hits with seven strikeouts. Rogstad and Swiers also combined for five hits at the plate.
