DETROIT LAKES – The Detroit Lakes baseball team bounced back from its first loss of the season with a doubleheader sweep over Park Rapids on Friday.
After an 11-0 win in game one, the Lakers held on to win game two 7-2, thanks to a Jordan Tucker grand slam in the bottom of the third inning. He finished the game 1-for3 at the plate and also threw all seven innings on the mound. He allowed two runs on four hits and struck out six batters.
The Lakers added another run in the bottom of the fourth on a Carson Rogstad single. The Lakers tacked on two more runs with an error and a fielder’s choice to make it 7-0 in the fifth inning.
The Panthers scored twice on a fielder’s choice in the sixth and seventh innings to cut the lead to five but couldn’t muster a comeback. The Lakers scored seven runs on six hits.

Noah Rieber crossed home plate on a passed ball before Hunter Korth singled in a run to make it 2-0. After the Lakers added two more runs, Markus Lyman put a charge into a three-run home run to take a 7-0 lead.
Detroit Lakes added three runs in the third and one in the fourth before winning via the mercy rule in the top of the fifth. Rieber pitched a four-hit shutout and struck out five batters.
