FERGUS FALLS – Ethan and Mason Carrier had an impressive day in Detroit Lakes’ first outdoor track and field meet on Monday afternoon.
Ethan Carrier took second in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.35. His brother, Mason, was right behind him in seventh place with a time of 11.67. Mason also took sixth in the 200-meter dash (24.54) and eighth in the shot put (37-feet, 3-inches).
Alexander Fletcher notched three top-eight finishes. He took second in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 16.91. He also took fourth in the high jump (5-feet, 6-inches) and fifth in the pole vault (9-feet, 6-inches).
Jack Pace also had a second-place finish. He clocked in at 58.08 in the 400-meter dash, with Caden Strand right behind him in fourth with a time of 59.65. Pace also ran in the 4x100-meter relay with Glenn Simons, Cameron Marxen and Carson Jensen to a seventh-place finish (53.78). Strand also took seventh in the triple jump at 32-feet, 7.5-inches.
The 4x200-meter relay team of Hunter Zempel, Gage Hatch, Ethan Lundberg and Tyler Ostilie finished in fifth place with a time of 1:49.61.
The Lakers took sixth place with a team score of 46. Willmar won the team competition with 143 points, with Fergus Falls (127) and Perham (84) in second and third.
