Boys track: Ethan Carrier wins three events, Lakers take third in home invite

The Detroit Lakes boys track and field team took third place in the Craig Fredrickson Invite on Thursday at Detroit Lakes High School.

DETROIT LAKES – Ethan Carrier had himself quite the day at the Craig Fredrickson Memorial invite in Detroit Lakes.

The junior runner took first place in three events. After taking the top spot in the 100-meter dash at 11.50 seconds, he won the 200-meter with a time of 23.68. He also anchored the 4x100-meter relay with Cameron Marxen, Mason Carrier and Hunter Zempel to a time of 44.64.

The Lakers won six events on their way to a third-place finish in their home invite. Detroit Lakes finished behind Park Rapids (166.5) and Fergus Falls (149) with a team score of 125.

Brandton Marsh won the triple jump at 42-feet, while Alexander Fletcher took the high jump title at 6-feet. Marsh also competed in the high jump (5-feet, 6-inches, 8th) and the 200-meter (24.02, 3rd). Fletcher took first in the 110-meter hurdles (16.51) and fourth in the pole vault at 10-feet, 6-inches.

The Lakers’ relay team of Ethan Lundberg, Charlie Kalina, Hunter Zmepel and Jamus Walz took second place with a time of 138.08. Jack Pace, Joe Skinner, Zach Olson and Marxen also took second in the 4x400-meter relay (3:46.11). Olson was right behind Alexander in the 110-meter hurdles with a second-place time of 16.91.

In the shot put, Marson Carrier took fourth place at 43-feet. Jacob Ehnert was two feet behind in seventh place. Lawson Greene placed fifth in the discus at 119-feet, 4-inches. Charlie Zok took seventh at 109-feet, 8-inches.
