Cross country: Detroit Lakes teams compete in prestigious Lucky Lindy Invitational in Little Falls

The Detroit Lakes boys and girls cross country teams made the trip to Little Falls to compete in the Lucky Lindy Invitational on Thursday afternoon.

LITTLE FALLS – The Detroit Lakes cross country teams competed among some of the best programs in the state at the Lucky Lindy Invitational in Little Falls.

The girls took 14th place with a team score of 275. Julia Steffl took 26th place overall with a time of 20:34.6.

Maria Foltz and Natalie Mohr finished back-to-back. Foltz took 86th with a time of 23:44.1, while Mohr clocked in at 23:44.1 in 87th place. Marin Johnson (24:48.7, 102nd) and Karli Skarie (25:06.1, 109th) rounded out the top five for the Lakers.

Alexandria took first place with a team score of 87, beating out Staples-Motley (93) and Perham (111). Pequot Lakes’ Calia Chaney ran the fastest time at 18:54.1.

The Detroit Lakes boys came in 22nd place with a team score of 601. Brayden Francis took 90th place with a time of 19:01.6 to pace the Lakers.

Mark Carlson (19:45.6, 122nd) and Micah Barberg (19:52.3, 124th) followed. Hunter Hanson took 134th place with a time of 20:43.2 before Xander Jessen finished 136th (20:51.1).

Perham’s Bjorn Anderson ran the fastest time in 16:03.2. The Yellowjackets took second place with a team score of 112, trailing only Heritage Christian, who finished with 66.
