MOORHEAD – The Detroit Lakes girls golf team cruised to a first-place finish at The Meadows in Moorhead behind another medalist round from Hannah Knoop.

The sophomore finished with a one-over-par 73. She notched three-straight birdies on Nos. 2-4 to lead to a one-under-par front nine. She added another birdie on No. 12 to lead all golfers in the field.

Senior McKenna Mallow collected a pair of birdies herself to take second in the field. She finished with six-over-par 78 with birdie putts on Nos. 4 and 14.

Sophomore Laura Syltie was two strokes behind Mallow and third overall in the field. She made par on seven holes on the front nine to lead her to an 80. She also made par putts on four holes on the back nine.

The Lakers’ fourth final golfer that factored into the team score was freshman Sydney Miller. She took seventh with a 92. Eighth-grader Maddie McDougall (94) and seventh-grader Mya Boeke (120) rounded out the group.


Detroit Lakes finished with a team score of 323. Moorhead took second at 370, with East Grand Forks in third at 412.
