Girls swimming and diving: Detroit Lakes takes eighth at Border Battle in West Fargo
The Detroit Lakes girls swimming and diving team, led by Marin Westrum and Faith Hamm, finished in eighth place among some of North Dakota and Minnesota's top teams.
WEST FARGO – Some of the top girls swimming and diving programs went to the West Fargo Border Battle invite on Saturday.
Detroit Lakes took eighth place with a team score of 123. Marin Westrum and Faith Hamm each placed in the top 12 in four events.
The team of Westrum, Hamm, Quinn Rogstad and Rylie Wendt took second place in the 200-yard free relay (1:49.61) and fifth in the 400-yard free relay (4:00.85).
Hamm notched a second-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:05.22. She also took 9th in the 500-yard freestyle (5:52.91). Westrum’s best solo finish came in the 100-yard butterfly in 1:08.10, which was good for eighth place. She also took 12th in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:33.77.
Hope Hamm paced the Laker divers with an 11th-place finish. She totaled 304.45 points. Kylie Tulius came in 13th place at 286.66.
West Fargo Sheyenne won the meet with a team score of 388.5. Brainerd wasn’t far behind in second place at 352.5, while Alexandria took third (276).
