Girls track and field: Detroit Lakes takes third at Alexandria Relays Invite

ALEXANDRIA – The field events remain a strength for the Detroit Lakes girls track and field team as it collected 11 top-eight finishes at the annual Alexandria Relays Invite on Tuesday.

Jerzie Horner won the pole vault at 9-feet, 3-inches. Right behind her was Jordan Ehnert in fourth at 8-feet, 3-inches, with Morgan Hausten in seventh at 7-feet, 9-inches.

Jacee Hauser paced the Lakers in the throwing events. She took third in the discus at 106-feet, 4-inches. She also took second in the shot put at 33-feet, 3-inches. Brenna Skadsem took sixth in the shot put at 31-feet, 6.5-inches, while Elle Bettcher took eighth in the discus (94-feet, 8-inches).

Lily Anderson placed in the top seven in the high jump (4-feet, 8-inches, 7th) and triple jump (33-feet, 3.75-inches, 3rd). Grace Gunderson took third in the high jump at 4-feet, 10-inches, while Rylee Johnson took eighth (4-feet, 8-inches).

The Lakers notched two first-place finishes in running events. Annie Paulson won the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 48.97 seconds. She also ran in the 4x800-meter relay with Ella Paulson, Abby Larson and Horner to a winning time of 1:56.30.

Alexandria won its home invite with a score of 137. Pequot Lakes landed in second with 97 points, while the Lakers took third.
