Golf roundup: Anna Cihak named NSIC Women's Golfer of the Week

Detroit Lakes' Anna Cihak took first place at the Minnesota State University-Mankato home invite to win the NSIC weekly honor.

DETROIT LAKES – Minnesota State University-Mankato junior and Detroit Lakes high school graduate Anna Cihak won the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week on Aug. 31.

Cihak shot rounds of 79 and 74 to land her at the top of the Maverick Invitational standings in Faribault two days prior to the honor. The Mavericks won the five-team event.

Cihak won the MSU-Mankato Invitational by eight strokes, tallying three birdies and 22 pars in two rounds.

Hole-in-one at Maples Hills

Mark Myogeto sank a hole-in-one on No. 7 with a seven iron on Aug. 17 at Maple Hills Golf Club.

Club owner Ron Kertscher said that seven was the lucky number, as Myogeto used his seven iron on No. 7 from 158 yards out. Myogeto hails from Odessa, TX.
