GLENWOOD – McKenna Mallow and Hannah Knoop had an impressive day at the Minnewaska-BBE Home Invitational on Friday.
Mallow and Knoop tied for second place with scores of 78 to lead the Lakers to a second-place finish.
After shooting four-over-par on the front nine, Mallow sunk a pair of birdies on Nos. 10 and 14 to finish six-over-par for the round. She also made pars on eight holes, including five on the front nine.
Knoop birdied No. 1 before roping off a four-hole par streak. She finished the front nine one-over-par. Her five birdies on the back nine kept her in the top 10 of the individual standings.
Laura Syltie finished 27th with a score of 93. Maddie McDougall was a stroke behind in 29th. Sydney Miller (99) and Jaycie Sliper (108) rounded out the day for the Lakers.

Alexandria took first place with a team score of 323 behind Cora Larson’s medalist round of 77. Fergus Falls and Detroit Lakes tied for second at 343, with Edina and Minnewaska in third.
Boys finish seventh at in Fargo
On Saturday, the Detroit Lakes boys golf team sent one group to compete at the North Fargo Invitational.
Noah Meyer paced the Lakers with a two-round score of 163 (80, 83). Eighth-grader Brock Burhans (80, 86) was right behind him at 166. Both Meyer and Burhans shot an 80 in their first rounds.
Lawsen Justesen put together an 82 and an 87 for a total of 169. Connor Nelson came in with the low-round at 79 before shooting a 92 for a total of 171. Tyler Stensgard also shot a 171, while Logan Schons shot a 174.
Grand Forks Red River won the meet with a score of 632. West Fargo Sheyenne (637), Fargo Davies (642), Fargo North (646) and Roseau (649) rounded out the top five. Detroit Lakes finished in seventh at 662.
