Nordic ski: Detroit Lakes girls take sixth in Little Falls

Lakers show improvements ahead of postseason meets.

LITTLE FALLS – The Detroit lakes nordic ski teams competed at the Little Falls invite on Thursday morning.

In the girls race, the Lakers took seventh as a team with 298 points. Kira Wolf took 17th with a pursuit time of 42:24. Anna Askelson wasn’t far behind in 19th place with a time of 43:20. Julia Steffl (47th, 48:05), Maddie Blahut (61st, 53:04) and Siri Vagle (66th, 1:03:27) also competed for Detroit Lakes.

Madi and Lexi Gerdes competed in the preliminary relay race and finished in eighth place with a time of 19:28. Zach Carlson and Casey Parks also competed in the boys relay race to a prelim time of 15:28. Their fifth-place finish was good enough to qualify for the final race where they took sixth place (15:40).
