Track and field: Both Detroit Lakes boys and girls track teams take third at Moorhead indoor

MOORHEAD – The Detroit Lakes track and field teams each took home a third-place finish in their second indoor meets of the season.

The Detroit Lakes girls were led by five four-place finishes. Abby Larson took the top spot in the 55-meter dash with a time of 7.65 seconds. She also anchored the Lakers’ first-place 4x200-meter relay team with Jerzie Horner, Ella Paulson and Annie Paulson.

In the 55-meter hurdles, Rylee Johnson paced the pack with a time of 9.82 seconds. Jacee Hauser won the shot put event with a distance of 33-feet, 5-inches.

Horner took second in the pole vault with a height of 8-feet. Morgan Hausten was right behind her in third place at 7-feet. Grace Gunderson capped off an impressive field day with a third-place finish in the high jump (4-feet, 7-inches).

Fargo Davies finished first overall with a team score of 101.5. Minnewaska Area (91.5) and Detroit Lakes (90.5) rounded out the top three spots.

The Lakers also took third overall in the boys competition. Staples-Motley won the event with an even 100. Minnewaska (88) and Detroit Lakes (78) were right behind.

Alexander Fletcher won the high jump at the height of 5-feet, 8-inches. He also won the pole vault at 10-feet, 6-inches.

In the 55-meter hurdles, Zach Olson took second in 8.98 seconds. Olson picked up another second-place finish in the 4x400-meter relay with Brayden Francis, Jack Pace and Joseph Skinner at a time of 4:00.16.

The throwers capped off an impressive field day. Braydon Sjoblom took second in the shot put at 38-feet, 11-inches. Lawson Greene (37-feet, 11-inches) and Charlie Zok (37-feet, 9-inches) took sixth and seventh, respectively.
