Volleyball: Moorhead hands Detroit Lakes its first loss of the season
The Detroit Lakes volleyball team fell for the first time this season against Moorhead on the road on Monday.
MOORHEAD – The Detroit Lakes volleyball team had its toughest test of the season on Monday night.
The Lakers (9-1) fell to Moorhead (3-4) in four sets to suffer their first loss of the season.
The Spuds took the first set 25-21 before Detroit Lakes evened the score with a 25-19 win in set two. Moorhead closed out the win with back-to-back 25-22 wins.
Grace Gunderson led the Lakers in kills with 16, followed by Jalynn Gunderson with 10, Ava Jones with five and Rylee Johnson with four.
Jones also led Detroit Lakes with five aces, and 38 assists. She recorded 11 digs and a block as well.
Jalynn Gunderson led the team in digs with 16, followed by Grace Gunderson with 15. Olivia Clark Burnette also had 11. Helena Daggett had two blocks and Sadie Stroeing had two aces.
