EAGAN, Minn. -- The Minnesota Vikings announced Wednesday they have come to agreements with wide receiver Brandon Powell and linebacker Troy Reeder. Both played with the Rams when Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell was Los Angeles’ offensive coordinator.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Powell’s deal is for one year. The 5-foot-8, 180-pound receiver played under O’Connell in Los Angeles, where he had 24 catches for 156 yards last season, although Powell has proven himself as a return specialist, handing the roles of kickoff returner and punt returner for the Rams last season.

It’s unlikely Powell, 27, becomes the kickoff returner for the Vikings next season considering Kene Nwangwu is among the NFL’s elite at that spot. But Powell figures to push Jalen Reagor for reps at punt returner when training camp rolls around.

Reeder, 28, joined the Rams as an undrafted free agent out of Delaware in 2019. In 49 games with the Rams, he made 25 starts and amassed 230 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, eight quarterback hits, five sacks, eight passes defensed, two interceptions and two forced fumbles. In 2022 with the Los Angeles Rams, he appeared in 17 games and finished with 11 total tackles.
