The No. 7 seeded Detroit Lakes boys' hockey team pounded the No. 10 Red Lake Falls' net for 59 shots, as the Lakers controlled the puck from start to finish for a 3-1 victory Tuesday inside Kent Freeman Arena.
The Lakers (11-14-1) will now have to travel to No. 2 Thief River Falls (16-8) Thursday for the Section 8-1A semifinals, starting at 7 p.m.
Junior forward Casey Paskey scored twice, while sophomore forward Ryan Deconcini opened the scoring 2:58 into the game.
Three assists were dished out to Isaac Fondrick, Austin Rusness and defenseman Dylan Bremseth.
Sophomore goalie MacKenzie Steele was rigid between the pipes, stopping 20 shots, while allowing a late goal by Ryan Amiot with under two minutes left in regulation.

No. 8 Lake of the Woods defeated No. 8 Bagley/Fosston 4-0 in the other play-in game to set up their game against No. 1 East Grand Forks.
In other games, No. 4 Crookston will host No. 5 Kittson Central and No. 3 Warroad hosts No. 6 Park Rapids.
