Kate Smith made the cut and finished tied for 24th place at the Cooper Communities NWA Classic in Bella Vista, Arkansas Saturday, July 27.
The original field of 62 golfers, both amateur and professional, was cut to the top 26 players and ties at 6-over-par after Friday’s third round.
Smith opened with a 4-over 74 followed by a +2 round on Thursday before making the cut with her best round of the tournament a 2-under-par 70 on Friday.
Smith shot par on all nine holes of the front side and countered a double bogey on the par-3, 13th hole with birdies on 11, 12, 16 and 18. She entered the final round in the top 20 but fell to 24th after a 77 (+5).
The former Laker and University of Nebraska senior was one of five amateurs to make the final round out of nine total in competition.

Professional Maria Fassi, of Davenport, Florida won the tournament shooting -14 (274) grabbing the winning purse of $7,500.
The top amateur was Alexa Pano of Lake Worth, Florida in second place four shots back.
Smith finished with a total of 297 (+9).
The tournament was part of the Womens All Pro Tour. The WAPT will have two weeks off before heading to Texarkana for the Texarkana Children’s Charities Open July 15–18 at Texarkana Country Club and Northridge Country Club.
