Ava Steinmetz scored twice and the Lakers put seven goals on the board in a 7-1 blowout victory over Hillcrest Lutheran Academy in Section 8A girls soccer Tuesday at Rotary Soccer Park.

DL scored five goals in 23 minutes in the first half to put the game away.

Steinmetz and Anna Jones worked the ball down low for a 1-0 lead. Sidney Lundberg and Abby Larson added unassisted tallies for a 3-0 lead.

Steinmetz scored her second off a corner kick in the 34th minute and Lindsey Moen dribbled up and buried a goal four minutes later.

In the second half, Jones worked her way into traffic in front of the net and scored on a one-touch off a corner kick.

Steinmetz set up DL’s seventh goal playing some give-and-go with Sydney Brininger, who launched a shot from outside the box that found the back of the Comets’ net.

Kindra Peterson had the only goal for Hillcrest.

The Lakers improve to 3-1 on the season after losing their first game before the holiday 2-0 at Bemidji.

DL plays at Crookston Thursday, Sept. 6 at 5 p.m.
