St. Cloud State University senior defender Garrett Raboin of Detroit Lakes and freshman forward David Eddy of Woodbury have both received Western Collegiate Hockey Association weekly honors for their play against the University of Minnesota on Jan. 22-23.

Raboin was named the WCHA's Defensive Player of the Week and Eddy earned WCHA Rookie of the Week honors on Jan. 26.

A 5-11, 180-pound freshman right winger from Woodbury, Eddy continued his freshman season success by scoring both game-winning goals against Minnesota in the home-and-home series on Jan. 22-23.

A 5-11, 175-pound senior captain from Detroit Lakes, Raboin was a driving force at the blue line during the Huskies' 4-3 and 4-1 victories over the Golden Gophers on Jan. 22-23, two decisions which stretched their winning streak to eight games and moved SCSU within one point of first place.

Raboin earned a plus-5 plus/minus rating and produced two scoring points in the series, while his efforts on defense helped limit the Gophers to four goals in the two games, despite the fact that UM outshot the Huskies 85-54 in the two games combined.

In game one at SCSU's National Hockey Center last Friday, Raboin scored the game's first goal at 7:37 of the first period. He completed the game with one goal, two shots on goal and was plus-2.

Last Saturday Jan. 23, when the series switched to Minneapolis and UM's Mariucci Arena, Raboin had an assist on Jared Festler's goal which gave the Huskies a 3-0 lead and was plus-3 on the plus/minus board.

On the 2009-10 season, Raboin now has five goals, 10 assists and 15 points while playing in all 26 games.

This marked the second time this season that Raboin has earned WCHA Defensive Player of the Week honors.
