Both Detroit Lake track and field teams competed at day one of the Section 8AA championships in Fergus Falls Wednesday, May 29 with six Lakers moving on to Saturday’s finals.

Junior Isaiah Thompson posted the top finish of the day for the Lakers placing third in the 110m hurdles running a time of 15.36. Saturday’s finals will be a tight race for the top two qualifying positions.

Thompson was on the heels of Becker’s David Myres (15.16) and Brainerd’s Zach Henke (15.30). Myres is the defending section champion. Thompson and Henke placed fourth and fifth, respectively, in 2018.
