The Detroit Lakes boys' swimming and diving team collected a 103-77 victory over visiting Perham inside the BTD Aquatics Center Thursday.

The dual gave DL head coach Rian Heimark an opportunity to swim different Lakers in different events.

"The guys are getting confident enough to swim out of their comfort zone and take on events they are not usually used to swimming in," Heimark said. "But we still had some good times."

Junior Quillan Oak was the Laker to win more than one events, as he won the 200-yard freestyle with a 1:49.81 time and the 100 butterfly with a 57.37.

Brandon Olson took second to Oak in the fly with a time of 58.74, while winning the 200 individual medley at 2:13.63.

Cody Okeson collected gold in the 50 freestyle at 24.44, while other winners included Carter Krengel (100 freestyle), Jared Olson (500 freestyle), Travis King (100 backstroke) and the 200-medley relay and 200 freestyle relay.

The 200-medley relay included King, Oak, Okeson and Krengel, who combined for a 1:52.37 time.

The 200 freestyle relay foursome included Brandon Olson, Okeson, Vaughn Johnson and Oak, which finished with a time of 1:37.33.

The Lakers also swept through diving, as senior Jon Melgaard posted a winning score of 309.85, while senior Justin George was second at 231.35 and Aaron Colby third at 192.95.

The Lakers took part in the State True Team meet inside the University of Minnesota Aquatics Center Saturday and will compete in the Park Rapids Invite Saturday, starting at 9:30 a.m.
