The Detroit Lakes volleyball team extended its winning streak to six games with a 3-0 road sweep at Park Rapids Thursday, Nov. 5.
The Lakers held the Panthers to less than points in all three sets winning 25-15, 25-19, 25-14.
Park Rapids has struggled this season losing all eight matches while being swept in six. The timing was good for Detroit Lakes. The Lakers were playing shorthanded.
“We went into tonight missing some key players and on a rollercoaster ride with COVID craziness which adds lots of stress to these girls,” Laker head coach Lynnsey Machakaire said. “But the girls came out, worked together in a new lineup and brought home another sweep. Ava Gilbert had a great blocking game tonight; she was really focused at the net.”
Gilbert recorded a team-high four blocks.
Lauren Kaiser led the Laker offensive attack with 11 kills.
Lexi Lundeen had 14 assists; team leader Ava Jones had 13.
Faith Keller’s 11 digs led the back row with Autumn Kulik (8). Laken Weaver and Jordyn Johnson each had seven.
Weaver had a team-high three aces.
