Pelican Rapids defeated United Clay Becker 51-21 in the season-opening wrestling dual for both teams Tuesday night in Hawley.
Sander O’Connell got the Badgers off to a 3-0 lead winning his 106-pound match 3-1 over the Vikings’ Austin Simpson.
Pelican Rapids took the next nine consecutive matches, including two UCB forfeits at 120 and 138, to build an insurmountable lead with four matches remaining.
The Badgers got strong outings late in the match from Nick Wamre (182 pounds), Isac Coufal (195) and Sam Wamre (220). All three won by fall.
Wamre pinned Nick Thompson at 3:20. Coufal pinned Kyle Tiggeman at 1:37 and Wamre recorded the fastest pin of the night at 39 seconds over Stanley Fisher.

UCB (0-1) will travel to New York Mills to take part in a quadrangle with Staples-Motley, Foston/Bagley and the host Eagles Friday, Dec. 5.
