St. Cloud State University head wrestling coach Steve Costanzo has announced that Tanner Eischens, a resident of Detroit Lakes, Minn., and wrestlers at Frazee high school will join the St. Cloud State University wrestling team beginning in 2018-19.

Eischens moves from one winning program to another.

The Huskies are the defending NCAA Division II national champions and have won three NCAA teams titles since 2015.

“Once again we feel we have done very well with our recruiting class,” Costanzo said. “Of course, time will tell. They will be needed to continue to take this program to the highest level and I can’t wait to watch them compete.”

Eischens, earned two births to the Class 1A MSHSL Championships in 2018 (160-pounds) and 2017 (145-pounds).

He was crowned Section 8A and HOL Conference Tournament Champion this past season.

In addition, he earned a championship at the prestigious 2017 Paul Bunyan Tournament.

He finished his last two seasons with a record of 72-18 and is the son of Scott Eischens and Liz Stone.

"The incoming class is going to have a great impact on our team," said Wilson. “The coaching staff is excited to get started and see them make their mark in our program."

The Huskies claimed a third NCAA Division II championship in 2018 and also won the NCAA DII Super 3 Regional and the NSIC championship in 2018. SCSU posted a 19-0 record and won their seventh consecutive NSIC crown this winter along with a top finish at the 2018 NWCA DII National Duals under the leadership of Costanzo and head assistant coach Brady Wilson.
