A Youth Soccer Association fund-raiser begins at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 27, in the Sandbar. All proceeds will go toward a building that will house concessions and permanent restrooms at the Rotary Soccer Complex.
The complex is home to 20 summer traveling and recreational teams, plus 250 youth up 8 years of age in Might Strikers, and Middle School and High school teams.
Detroit Lakes hosts a 3 V 3 tournament annually, and have been chosen as the site for the NW District tournament games the last few years. Several NW District teams from distant communities also meet in centrally located Detroit Lakes to play each other.
Tickets to the fund-raiser are $100 and good for two steak dinners, four drink tickets and chances for cash prizes, including a $1,500 top cash prize. Ticket numbers are limited. There will also be opportunities for great items in the live auction, silent auction, gun raffles, jewelry box and hat games and quilt raffle.
Several area businesses and individuals have contributed a wide variety of articles and services to support our area soccer youth -- from restaurant gift certificate baskets, an aqua rock water fountain, teeth whitening package, a 50-bottle wine rack complete with wine, barge party for 50 people, a beautiful necklace and earrings, an emerald ring, a 1-night stay at the Lodge with spa package and wine tasting, hot air balloon and sailboat rides, area rug and kitchen island, choice guns for the sportsman, Twins tickets for 2009, a service gift certificate basket, golf and ski certificates, and much, much more.
