The girls “stayed after school, stayed in for weekends, they stayed in for recess — everybody does an experiment, but not to that extent,” said Rossman Elementary teacher Mrs. Gilson.
“This is one of the greatest honors of my life,” he said following his appointment. “My family has prospered because of this system, but we can’t rest until every family can say that.”
Students from schools from Cass, Crow Wing, Morrison, Todd and Wadena counties participated in the final Math Masters competitions of the 2022-23 school year on March 9 and April 26 at Sourcewell.
Voters are fortunate to have two good candidates in Ethan Walz and Nerissa Hendrickson, both of whom are already deeply involved in the school district.
Interim board member Tadd Johnson, a former University of Minnesota Duluth graduate studies director, was elected to a full term. Johnson is the first Native American regent.
She is believed to be the first American Indian woman to hold a vice president position at a four-year university within the Minnesota State system of colleges and universities
She would like to see a potential revamp of the academy system at the high school, and she wants to ensure the curriculum being taught upholds the values of the parents and the community.
“I had a really good education when I was a student here, and I want future Lakers to have that same opportunity," Walz said. "The best way to do that is to have a voice on the school board.”
