The goal is to think and act like one large team, all of whom have a hand in producing three quality local community newspapers. Admittedly, I am biased, but I believe that we have come a long way in our progress. To me, the positive results are evident every week in our printed newspapers, our websites and the special sections we produce.
I was struck how deep the ties are, even many decades later, between students and teachers.
Our staff fields numerous calls each week from subscribers who didn’t receive their paper. Our reporting team fields questions from people on the street or at public meetings about why the paper doesn’t get to their mailbox. And our sales team hears from advertisers who are dismayed over the late deliveries as well.
I am grateful for every reader we have of each of our publications, whether you are a lifetime subscriber or you peruse our website and social media channels on your phone over your lunch break. These days we publish to a lot of platforms, and we value every reader wherever you find our content.
I have a problem with people who do not take voting seriously, so with this in mind, I was in the position to see every voter – over 800 of them – so I decided to take a survey of my own, and want to share the results with the general public.
Where does bullying happen? Everywhere! For children and adolescents, it can happen at school, at home, with friends and online. The internet has given even more power to those that want to bully others, as there are few repercussions for these aggressive behaviors. It can cause major distress and feelings of powerlessness for victims.

So just what makes our elections so special? I credit all of those who are involved in the elections, from the volunteers at the local precinct to the election officials on up to every level of government.
I know most people tend to generalize when they speak about the “media.” It’s really just human nature. But I can assure you that working for the Detroit Lakes Tribune, Perham Focus and Wadena Pioneer Journal is nothing like working at larger media organizations.
A coordinated resilience strategy helps communities design stronger flood infrastructure, develop smart growth strategies, put limited resources to work, and guide emergency response efforts.
