Leighton Broadcasting is progressing with plans to relocate their studio operations to Randolph Road in Detroit Lakes from their current facility on Richwood Road, their home of more than 60 years. The progress comes after the Detroit Lakes Planning Commission recommended approval to the city council for a variance, and rezoning, on their new property during a May 27 meeting. The plan included the installation of a new 100-foot broadcast tower on the west side of the building.
A news release said Flag Family Media would play “an extensive role in WDAY-AM’s day-to-day operations, programming, and sales efforts, and provides an eventual path to ownership.”
Jon McTaggart, a Bemidji State University graduate, is only the second CEO of APMG and started with the company in 1983.
