With its number of residents and name’s meaning in American English slang, a town like Nimrod — population 69 — is bound to get noticed by anyone who sees a sign for the town on a northwestern Minnesota highway. And while the curiously named rural Wadena County town tends to keep on the quieter side, its streets will teem with people this Labor Day weekend during its annual “Jubilee Days” celebration.
The fair unveiled its new foods Tuesday, the annual preview of the dizzying array of new eating and drinking options at the 12-day gathering and eat-a-thon that starts Aug. 25.

Fresh off the success of Detroit Lakes' first-ever 'Polar-try Poetry Walk,' held during Polar Fest 2022, mother-daughter duo Mary Beth and Kendra Gilsdorf are planning a summer poetry walk — with poetry submissions to be printed and displayed in the colorful downtown flower pots, next to all the fresh blooms. Submissions for the Flowerpot Poetry Walk are being accepted through Monday, May 30.
There may be just two more concerts on the Historic Holmes Theatre's spring concert schedule, but that doesn't mean the theater's staff is taking the summer off. Three summer theater camps for children will be held, along with some free theater workshops, art classes and the annual Tuesdays in the Park summer concert series at the City Park.
The armbands will be used for pretty much all services offered on site, from admission to the campgrounds and concert bowl to food, beverage and souvenir purchases. Other improvements to this year's "WE Fest experience" have been made to the main stage, VIP hospitality and seating areas.
