Frazee will save about $686,000 on a $1.4 million project to replace an aging sanitary sewer and water main along Highway 87 and Maple Avenue, in conjunction with a state highway reconstruction project. Detroit Lakes will save over $119,000 on a project.
West Lake Drive in Detroit Lakes is open again for normal traffic as road construction season officially ends for the year. The city expects to close the road again in the spring to finish the street and utility project, which will include the installation of a lakeside all-purpose trail.
Bid letting for removal of trees in the clear zone in a 21-mile stretch of the Lake Country Scenic Byway has a Dec. 2 deadline, according to project manager Joeb Oyster.
The city is using about half of its one-time $1 million in federal funding from the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 to lower the assessments.
