Desiree's family moved back to Frazee, where her parents grew up themselves, in 2009. She graduated from Frazee High School in 2016 and Southwest Minnesota State University in 2019. Done with college and into the 'adult' world, Desiree is eager to get into the writing and editing field, starting with this internship at the Detroit Lakes Newspapers.

The Admiral hat hunt is officially over.
Dogs can get their hair, or fur, dyed too. Or at least they can at All Star Grooming by Sherri and Corri Ullrich. This is a specialty that the mother and daughter pair offer at their business, bringing a new look to animals. "It's fun to do," Corri, Sherri's daughter, said.
Frazee native Tyler Shipman passed away in 2009 from cancer, but his memory lives on with the Tyler Shipman Memorial Car Show. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the show.

As John Sailer and his siblings were planning a surprise 50th anniversary party for his parents, Joe and Jean Sailer of Frazee, he started to think about what they are each known for. "My dad is the former coach for Frazee's baseball team; he took them to state in 1999," John said in a phone call. This is his father's legacy.

But, when the annual Fly-In and Pancake Breakfast happens on Saturday, July 13, the sky will be littered with airplanes.
If you've been seeing dead fish along the shores of the Detroit Lake City Beach, don't worry. Brad Green, the city Public Works Director, said that the lake and beach are safe. Messages sent to the Tribune's Facebook page from beach-goers asked about the dead fish along the beach. Green said that the Parks and Recreation Department just treated the lake with a very diluted solution to kill the parasites that cause swimmer's itch. He did not think these would lead to some fish dying, but thought it was possible if they ate a large amount of the solution or parasites.
Fair season has already begun, with both Wadena and Mahnomen already celebrating their county fairs. There are still six area fairs coming up in July and August. The Red River Valley Fair, in West Fargo, N.D., is July 9-14. They are featuring nine different artists, starting with the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band on July 9 and ending with Jake Rose July 13.
