The North Dakota State University women's golf team completed the opening 18 holes of the NCAA Madison Regional Monday, May 7, at University Ridge Golf Course in Verona, Wisconsin. The Bison tallied an opening round team score of 27-over par 315 and sit in 18th-place.
Summer basketball camps for girls in grades K-8 are accepting registrations. The camps will be held in early June at both the middle school and high school gymnasiums. Grade levels are for the 2018-2019 school year. Players are not expected to be at camp each day, as the structure is flexible.
The eighth-grade Detroit Lakes Pacesetter youth basketball team is headed to the state tournament after placing at the Pacesetter Region 6 basketball tournament held at Moorhead High School April 14-15. The Detroit Lakes eighth grade traveling team captured the Region 6 championship at Moorhead High School on April 14 to advance to the Minnesota Invitational Tournament (MIT) to be held in Maple Grove on Saturday, June 16.
Mixed Martial Arts is back with No Mercy VIII to be held Saturday, May 19 at Shooting Star Casino in Mahnomen with another night of action-packed fights. Shooting Star has quickly become one of the top destinations for MMA in the midwest with a fantastic venue and fun-filled casino floor. The inaugural show took place there September 30 last year and was completely sold out.
Four Detroit Lakes youth wrestlers advanced to the Northland Youth Wrestling Association (NYWA) State Wrestling Tournament held April 5-8 in Rochester. Sixth-grader Mason Carrier placed fourth in the fifth/sixth grade, 115-pound division to record the top finish for the DL team. Also advancing to state were seventh-graders Cade Okeson (7-8/95), Cade Jackson (7-8/105), and Cale Abraham (7-8/135).

The 39th annual Dragon Open Golf Tournament is set for Monday, June 11 at the Moorhead Country Club. The open is a part of four golf summer golf tournaments involving Dragon Athletics. The registration begins at 11:30 a.m. with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. There will be a buffet dinner at 5:30 p.m. Teams and individuals can register by clicking here . Proceeds from the tournament go to Dragon athletic scholarships.
Gopher head coaches and administrators will pack into a bus this May and hit the highway for the 2018 Gopher Road Trip. The latest edition of the athletics department’s springtime tradition will visit nine cities throughout greater Minnesota, first on the two-day Maroon trip in early May, followed by the two-day Gold trip at the end of the month.
The Detroit Lakes Women's Bowling Association held their annual All City Bowling Tournament on November 13-16, 2017. The winner of the team event was the Brygge Tap & Taste bowling a team score of 2,632. Cassie Kostka was the winner of the singles tournament bowling a score of 697. A total of 21 teams bowled in this year's tournament.
