Why weather may have made the Grinch dislike Christmas

FARGO - “The Grinch hated Christmas! The whole Christmas season!
Now please don’t ask why. No one quite knows the reason.”

He lived atop Mount Crumpit so we may have a guess:
Living so high makes heat suppressed.
Temps fall 29 degrees for every mile up high,
So it must have been quite frigid at his home in the sky.

And it's not just the cold up at that elevation,
Pressure also decreases due to Earth’s gravitation.
So maybe he was short of breath near the top of that mountain.
The pure lack of oxygen may have kept him poutin’.

“But I think that the most likely reason of all, may have been that his heart was two sizes too small.”

You can replicate this at home just like in the cartoon.
Draw a red heart on an inflated green balloon.
Let it sit out in the chilly air for a couple of minutes or hours,
And see the heart shrink thanks to our atmosphere’s powers.

The atoms inside get closer together causing it to shrink.
It’s also why our tires deflate in the winter I think.
Bring the balloon back inside to see the heart expand and grow
Warmer temperatures bounce atoms faster and farther apart, you know.

So you could say spirit AND science helped the Grinch grow in a way,
I’m Whoville’s Jesse Ritka for this week’s Weather Wednesday.
