The White Earth Tribal Council mourns the passing of Kathy Goodwin, former White Earth District II representative.
Goodwin served the people of White Earth with integrity and honor from 2014 to 2021, according to a White Earth Nation news release.
Long prior to her elected service, Goodwin worked for the White Earth people in various capacities, including in tribal court and public safety. Her work contributed to White Earth establishing a department of motor vehicles, and exercising regulatory authority over motor vehicle registration and tribal license plates in the late 1990s.
She died quietly in her home on Saturday, Feb. 26. The Tribal Council, along with all members of the White Earth Reservation, extend condolences to her children and family.
“Kathy was the kind of leader who stood up for her people and exemplified true servant leadership,” said Tribal Chairman Michael Fairbanks. “She will be greatly missed, and we pray for her family in this time.”
