Wrestling: Lakers go 2-4 at Rick Lee invite in Bemidji

Tyson Ullyott and Bradly Swiers each picked up five wins on Saturday at Bemidji’s Rick Lee wrestling invite.

The Detroit Lakes wrestling team went 2-4 on the day with a 42-4 win over Blackduck-Cass Lake-Bena and a 52-21 victory over Grand Forks Central. The Lakers fell to the host school 46-21 before suffering losses to TMBWWG (42-22), Long Prairie-Gray Eagle-Browerville (45-23) and United North Central (52-13).

Ullyott went 4-1 out of the 145-pound slot while also picking up a fall win at 152 points against GFC’s Logan Shepperd. Ullyott won two matches by fall, two by decision and one by major decision on Saturday. Ullyot is currently the seventh-ranked wrestler at 145-pounds in Class AA, according to The Guillotine.

Bradly Swiers also went 5-1 on the day in the 138-pound slot. He pinned three opponents and scored a major decision win over UNC’s Wyatt Olson. Cade Jackson went 4-1 with three fall victories and a technical fall win.

Beau Somdahl, Jeffrey Moen, Jacob Ehnert, Connor Zamzo and Cade Okeson all picked up three wins for the Lakers. Cole Weber and LeRoy LaCross each had two victories.
